How It All Began

It began in 2015, with something we kept passing on the way home. Sacks of marigold and rose going straight into the Ganges, still fresh and still fragrant.

It was so ordinary that most of the city had stopped noticing. The flowers had been part of something meaningful that morning, and by evening they were waste.

The obvious response was to campaign for a cleaner river. The more interesting one was to ask whether those flowers were waste at all, or simply in the wrong place.

The answer became our first batch of incense, rolled by hand in a small workshop in Kanpur. Everything Help Us Green makes today began with that question.

The Challenge

What Reaches the River

Across India, thousands of tonnes of flowers are cleared from places of worship every year. Most of it is tipped into rivers, because it is considered too sacred to send to a landfill.

In Kanpur alone, we collect two and a half tonnes of it a day, and that is only a fraction of what the city produces.

Why It Matters

The flowers themselves are harmless. What they carry is not. Pesticides and chemical residues from commercial flower farming wash into the water, along with the foil and thread used to decorate them.

Waste flower recycling turns that problem into a raw material. The same flowers become the base of everything we sell.

Building The Solution

Flowercycling is the process we built to do it. Flowers are collected daily, sorted by hand, cleaned, dried slowly, then ground and blended with natural resins, herbs, and pure oils.

Nothing synthetic goes in. There is no bamboo core and no charcoal, so what burns is the blend itself and nothing else.

Everything that comes out of it, from agarbatti to havan cups, is made to be chosen for how it smells first, and for what it used to be second.

Women Empowerment

None of it works without the women who make it. They came to us with steady hands and no formal training, and built the skill of this craft between them.

Sorting, drying, rolling, and packing are all done by hand in our Kanpur workshop, by women earning a steady, dignified income from work they are good at.

They are not a line in a report. They are the reason a hundred boxes carry the same care as one.

Our Impact

Every kilo we collect is a kilo that does not reach the Ganges or a landfill. It becomes incense instead.

The pesticides and residues those flowers carry stay out of the river, which matters more than the flowers themselves.

Rural women in Kanpur earn a regular income from skilled work, close to home, in a workshop they helped build.

No charcoal, no bamboo, and no synthetic fragrance, which means cleaner air in your home as well as ours.

Everything ships in biodegradable, plastic-free packaging, so the last part of the product is as considered as the first.

Founder’s Note

I grew up in Kanpur, and the river was simply part of the landscape. You stop seeing what has always been there.

What changed was noticing the flowers, not as pollution, but as something beautiful that had been given up on far too quickly.

Years on, what I am proudest of is not the tonnage. It is that people buy our incense because they like it, and only later find out what it used to be.
